Save the Date: Hunter Mill Forum to Review County Comprehensive Plan

Community can get a look, give feedback on vision for Reston through 2030.

Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins will host a community meeting at South Lakes High School on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. to review the draft language for the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan.

The Plan will guide development around the three transit station areas in Reston through 2030.

In 2010, Supervisor Hudgins initiated Phase I of the Reston Comprehensive Plan study, appointing a task force of 25 individuals, organization representatives and land owners.  The Reston Master Plan Special Study Task Force was chaired by Patricia Nicoson.

The Task Force has been meeting for nearly three years - about double the length of time it originally estimated it would take to reach a plan - to create plan language that will guide the land use and zoning growth around the Metro stations.

The goal of this effort has been to acknowledge the success resulting from the original Reston Plan, while retaining the vibrancy and sense of community that exists today, Hudgins said in a statement.
