Reston Man Drowns in Great Falls Pool

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in James Simmons' drowning death.

Fairfax County Police said a Reston man drowned in the pool at a Great Falls home last Sunday.

Police were called to the home in the 10200 block of Eisenhower Lane at 12:45 a.m. for a report of a suspected drowning. 

James D. Simmons, 43, of the Reston area, was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

An investigation determined Simmons had been in the pool for several minutes when friends found him and began CPR. The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor, police said.

SEXUAL ASSAULT - A Fairfax man was charged with sexual battery after an incident at Lake Fairfax Park on June 22.

Police were called to the Park at 4 p.m. when a 26-year-old woman reported she was inappropriately touched by an unknown man. 

After an investigation, Pedro Santos, 41, of Fairfax, was charged with sexual battery.

BURGLARY, 1500 block of Northgate Square, June 24, 6:50 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole electronic equipment. There were no signs of forced entry.
