About Susan
I grew up in Reston, and love the green, the atmosphere and the people so much my husband and I returned to share our lives and a home with my parents. We're raising four kids ranging from 8 - 18 in a pretty laid back way for this area, and are actively involved in their schools and activities, as well as volunteering for Herndon Reston FISH and, when I have time, Meals on Wheels and Planned Parenthood.
I've been a school parent group board member and served as President at Hunters Woods Co-operative Preschool and Hunters Woods Elementary PTA, served on the Executive Board at Langston Hughes Middle, and am the incoming President of the PTSA at South Lakes High School.
I'm planning on my seventh year as a Girl Scout Leader of a multi-level troop which next year will have 21 girls ranging from Brownies - Cadettes.
I've been heavily involved in some local political and school issues, especially the South Reston Park and Ride dense housing development, and South Lakes High School boundary change.
My most recent PTA initiative was to make Hunters Woods a fundraising free PTA, with the Mustang Pride one time donation drive. Now I'm working on a walk/bike to school plan to encourage all of our students to join my own family as we try to get to school under "Mustang Power" with increasing frequency.
In spite of a busy life, and an inate inability to not do what I see needs doing, I'm a lazy soul and avid fiction reader, who wouldn't mind days filled with nothing but books and bon bons.

Susan.....contact me if you want to move forward on this. Supervisor Hudgins mentioned HW as a school that might be a good target for SRTS. - Jeff
