On the article What Implications Does Boston Have for Marine Corps Marathon Security?

ReplyThe Nike Women's Half-Marathon is in DC in just two weeks (April 28). They don't have the marines to provide security measures. I am much more concerned about that race (especially since I am running in it.)

ReplyI was surprised on Saturday to see a car driving on the W&OD in Arlington where I was running. It was a black Jetta with NY plates. Now I see it was not an isolated incident. Time for more patrols?

ReplyIn any case, trust your gut. I've been in a situation where I saw a person with a gun strapped t his leg in a restaurant. But he was minding his own business. The problem with this story is not the gun, but the boundary violation - a stranger following a woman back to their table and talking to them. Th gun only makes a scary person scarier. I'd have reported the person to the owner at least, gun or not.

ReplyI can't quite follow the timeline here. If turnover is expected when all the activities listed are complete in December 20, 2013, then there is a 90-day testing period, doesn't that mean I won't be able to ride until spring 2014? I don't see how that's the same as December 2013.

ReplyAs someone who lives south of the toll road, I certainly hope I don't have to cross the toll road just to get to the Metro.

ReplySo sad to hear this. All the staff there were really nice and friendly. I hope they can keep the store going.

I have to disagree that two bike lanes are too much. I read that to mean one northbound bike lane and one southbound bike lane. I for one want to be able to ride my bike to the metro and I don't want to dodge oncoming bikes in order to do so. Please be sure that bike lanes and sidewalks are included and are on both sides of the street. I don't want to run through traffic to get to the sidewalk.
