Friday faceoff wins Patch's weekly poll
South Lakes and Thomas Jefferson High School fans bolstered their field hockey teams this week, helping the Friday faceoff win Patch's "Game of the Week" poll for the Liberty District. The matchup earned 33 percent of the votes in this week's poll, beating out another field hockey match between Madison and McLean High Schools, a volleyball game between Marshall and Stone Bridge, and a Cross Country quad meet between Fairfax, Marshall, Madison and Langley High Schools. The Seahawks are 10-4 so far on the season (before Monday night's game). They've yet to face Thomas Jefferson, which is 6-6-2. The game will be featured on Patch later this week. Friday showdown selected from Liberty District matchups to be featured on Patch
Madison and Marshall High School fans bolstered their field hockey teams this week, helping the Friday faceoff win Patch's "Game of the Week" poll for the Liberty District. The matchup earned 62 percent of the votes in this week's poll, beating out two volleyball games between Fairfax and McLean and Stone Bridge and South Lakes, respectively, along with a Langley and South Lakes field hockey matchup and a cross country meet. The Madison Warhawks are 3-6 this season, and have yet to face their cross-town rival Marshall, which is off to a roaring 9-2 start, including a sweep of the Herndon Tournament last weekend. Wednesday showdown selected from Liberty District matchups to be featured on Patch
Fairfax and Thomas Jefferson High School fans bolstered their field hockey teams this week, helping the Wednesday faceoff win Patch's "Game of the Week" poll for the Liberty District. The matchup earned 73 percent — about 30 votes — in this week's poll, beating out two cross-country meets and a pair of field hockey games between Marshall and South Lakes and McLean and Langley, respectively. The Fairfax Rebels, who won the 2011 Liberty District title, enter the game undefeated with a 5-0 record. The TJ Colonials are 4-3-1, but have won the last two games by decisive margins.
