Lerner says it has no immediate plans to begin redevelopment of large parcel near Reston Town Center.
While plans for a massive redevelopment at Reston Spectrum were approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors earlier this month, it could take years - even decades - before the Spectrum morphs into the mixed-use development that planners envision. Lerner Enterprises, the owner of the shopping center that runs from New Dominion to Baron Cameron along Reston Parkway, is offering no timetable for redevelopment. The company says it is excited about the future, but has no immediate plans to begin building. “Lerner is pleased that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently approved the redevelopment plans for The Spectrum at Reston Town Center," the statement reads. "The longterm vision is to redevelop the current shopping center …

Reston store will close at the end of February, and most book lovers are quite upset.
Restonians will soon be without a bookstore, news that is not sitting well with shoppers who frequent Barnes & Noble. The store at Reston's Spectrum Center will close at the end of February, Barnes & Noble officials said on Tuesday. The Container Store will open in that spot later in 2013, said a spokesman for Lerner Enterprises, which owns the shopping center. Barnes & Noble said it wanted to stay, but could not reach a lease agreement with Lerner. In comments on Reston Patch and on Reston Patch's Facebook page, book lovers voiced their opinion on the change. "I love bookstores and specifically B&N. I cherish those days especially in winter when I can go there and enjoy quiet time thumbing through books, magazines, and cards while sipping…

Chipperson - you are just another one of those angry, red-faced tea baggers who blames everything on the "gawd damd librels." If everybody thought the same way as you, then Central Park in NYC and the Mall in DC would be nothing but Wal-Marts, McDonalds and multi-story parking garages. I hope they build some of that in YOUR backyard, then we can enjoy your salty tears and seeing the veins in your…   more ›
Group urging citizens to voice opinions to DRB.
Reston Association's Design Review Board will discuss the proposal for redevelopment of Fairway Apartments at its regular meeting on Tuesday. The late addition of JBG's proposal - after more than a year of discussion on several different submissions - has raised the attention of the Reston Citizens Association, which is urging citizens to speak their opinion at the 7 p.m. meeting at Reston Association headquarters. "The DRB is being asked to give the JBG proposal 'conceptual approval' before it goes to the County Planning Commission," the RCA said in an e-mail to members. "According to people within the DRB, the proposal remains essentially the same as presented to the DRB and Reston P&Z committees earlier this year. The RCA Board of …
