Fairfax County Planning Commission expected to approve new look and layout for mixed use off of Sunrise Valley Drive.

Update: The Fairfax County Planning Commission recommended the project for approval on May 22. Original story, May 21: The Fairfax County Planning Commission is expected to recommend for approval Wednesday a redesigned plan for additional development at Reston Heights. The new look for JBG's development adjacent to the Reston International Center, Sheraton Reston and Westin Reston Heights plans for 498 residential units, 245,000 square feet of retail and about 430,000 square feet of office in six buildings.   JBG's orginal plan, first approved by the county Board of Supervisors in 2008, had the same density in mind, but the look was more high-rise, featuring one 15-story tower and several other buildings. RA DRB OKs Concept for Reston Heights Plan

Developers plan mixed-use development with urban look that fits into natural setting.

Reston Association's Design Review Board unanimously approved in concept the plans for more mixed-use development at Reston Heights. Plans to add retail, residential, office and parking to the parcel near the Reston International Center have been in the works for years. The first part of the plan - which included the Westin Reston Heights, the Mercer Condominium and office buildings - was completed in the last several years. The next phase will include 145,000 square feet of above-grade retail, 100,00 square feet of below-grade retail,  428,225 square feet of office and 498 residential units.
