Reston Police Blotter

Incidents reported by the Fairfax County Police for week ending Nov. 2. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

ASSAULT, 11900 Democracy Drive, 10/27/12, 12:40 a.m. The victim was in a discussion with a restaurant manger when an unknown individual struck the victim. The suspect fled and the victim received a minor injury. LARCENIES A bicycle was taken from a residence in the 2200 block of Stone Wheel Drive Five laprops, projector, docking station and power supplies were taken from a buisness in the 11700 block of Sunrise Valley Drive A cell phone was taken from a busines in the 12000 block of Sunset Hills Road

More than 100 Officers Honored for Bravery

Annual celebration of public safety officers who protect county residents.

The suicidal woman jumped into the black, churning waters of the Potomac River in one of the most treacherous stretches near Great Falls about 1 a.m. last July. Fairfax County Police officer Ali Sepehri of the McLean District station couldn't see her, but he immediately followed her into the water. "She pushed me under the water once. I thought this was not good. I literally thought I was going to die." Fairfax County Police Officer Federick Yap, of the Reston District station, also jumped into the white water tumbling over very large rocks. "One mistake and you are gone," he said. New Police Station Takes Next Step

Fairfax County Planning Commission sends applications, plans for new Reston District Police Station to Board of Supervisors.

The Fairfax County Planning Commission agreed at its meeting on Wednesday to send several applications relating to a planned new FCPD Reston District Station to the Board of Supervisors. That means the county is one step closer to building a new facility next to where the current station stands at Town Center Parkway and Cameron Glen Drive. The planning commission recommended for approval a construction permit; an application to amend proffers previously approved for governmental uses; an application to permit the eight amendment of the development plan with unlimited FAR to permit site modifications and associated modifications to site design;  and an application to approve the Planned Residential Community  plan for reconstruction of a …
