Milton Matthews, at helm of RA since 2004, leaves job at end of month.
Reston Association CEO Milton Matthews was showered with good wishes and parting gifts from RA staff, board of directors and leaders of other Reston organizations at Thursday night's RA board meeting. Matthews announced in February he was stepping down after eight years on the job. He is leaving the position because his wife accepted a job as the city manager of Rockville, Md., last summer, and that job, like RA, features a residency requirement. Matthews will be on leave after May 31, but his contract will run through Sept. 30 if RA has not hired a new CEO. RA is conducting a search for a new CEO but has not hired one yet. "You have been a tremendous advocate for RA," Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Ingrao told…

RA says it will wait for more information before forming a position on plans for new indoor pool at Baron Cameron Park.
Reston Association's Board of Directors says it is not yet taking a position on the Reston Community Center's proposal for a new recreational facility at Baron Cameron Park. "Before finalizing a position on the recreation facility, the RA board and staff will continue to attend meetings and gather more information about the proposal," RA president Ken Knueven said in a statement. "We welcome and strongly encourage our members to share their perspectives through the communication channels provided by RCC on the Park Authority’s Master Planning Process of Baron Cameron Park." RA and RCC worked together on a proposal to build a recreation center at RA's Brown's Chapel Park in 2009. Public opinion was mostly against the 171,000-square-foot …

Reston Association pondering plans for lighting Field No. 1, which will allow night Little League games but may also anger neighbors.
What will the future of Brown's Chapel Park look like with a lighted field? Depends who you ask. It will look like night baseball for Reston Little League players, but it could also mean light pollution for nearby residents. Reston Association approved more than $282,000 for ball field improvements at Brown's Chapel as part of this year's budget. Brown's Chapel contains three baseball fields. Much of the money will be spent on overall field enhancements, but RA also wants to install lighting on field No. 1 - which is the Little League field and the field closest to the Brown's Chapel building - as well as in the parking lot. The proposal has been discussed at recent RA Design Review Board meetings and will likely be discussed again in June…
