Patch asked; you answered. Now it is time to vote. Several weeks ago, we asked for nominations for our Readers' Choice Poll in 25 different categories. You nominated your favorite places to get a hot fudge sundae, the most "Reston" place in Reston, and best date night, among others. Click on the links below to vote on the finalists and give them a shot at winning our Readers' Choice Award. The polls open July 23 at 12:01 a.m. and end on Aug. 17. Winners will be announced Aug. 24. Because this is a contest, you’ll need to create a Patch login to nominate and vote. Throughout the end of June and early July you went on and on (and on and on ...) about your picks for the best food, services and providers. We asked for it and you delivered, stepping up to make sure your picks for the best of the best make into the voting round of our 2012 Best of Patch Readers' Choice competition. Patch readers nominated the best bakeries in Fairfax County, so vote to determine which one is the Readers’ Choice 2012 winner.
Where is the best bakery in Fairfax County? Cast your vote and let us know. Patch is relaunching its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else who knows about the area to participate. Nominations were accepted on Patch through July 9. If your bakery was nominated but you do not see it here, it's possible it was not included because it is not located in Fairfax County. The nominees are: Winners in all Readers' Choice categories will be announced on Aug. 24. The poll will open to accept votes from registered Patch users starting on July 23 and close at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 17. Herndon and Reston readers have spoken and O'Sullivan's is the place to spend St. Patrick's Day.
The place to be on St. Patrick's Day is downtown Herndon, with the winner of our Readers' Choice poll O'Sullivan's. O'Sullivan's, with its Irish staff members, Irish specialties and Irish beverages, took more than 50 percent of the vote in this week's Readers' Choice. Jimmy's Old Town Tavern followed pretty close behind with about 36 percent of the vote, however the two establishments are so close it's easy to visit both on St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day marks the second anniversary of O'Sullivan's, which opened in the spring of 2010 in downtown Herndon. Herndon and Reston Patch readers love to take their kids to Wee Play.
This week we asked readers of Herndon and Reston Patch where the best place to take the kids to play is. The answer: Wee Play in Herndon, which received 54 percent of the vote. Wee Play offers a variety of interactive play classes for parents or caregivers and young children. It features large rooms that are bright and colorful with 3,000-square-feet of play space located in the Sugar Oak Office Park just over the Herndon border off of Elden Street.
