Television show run ends for local singer.
The end of the line on Fox's American Idol came Thursday night for Reston's Nate Tao. Tao, whose solo week performance was not shown on Thursday's show, was not chosen by judges to advance closer to the Top 20 that will sing live on the show. They did air Tao's reaction, though. "It's not the end of the world, but it sucks," Tao said on the broadcast. Reston Patch spoke with Tao earlier on Thursday. Reston singer Nate Tao makes it through the group sing. Will he make it to the Top 20?
The road to American Idol stardom continues for at least one more day for for Reston's Nate Tao . Tao, the 24-year-old graduate of Herndon High School, made it through part one of a two-part Hollywood Week on American Idol last night. There was not much screen time for Tao on Wednesday, but he and his black-jeans-and-leather-jacket clad foursome sailed through the group sing by belting Some Kind of Wonderful. They all were picked to move on to the finals of Hollywood Week, which will air Thursday at 8 p.m. Thursday's show will narrow the field of men to the Top 20 and a spot to sing live on Idol. Reston native Nate Tao and his inspiring backstory - both his parents are deaf - were featured on last week's American Idol. After auditioning in Oklahoma City, Tao got an unanimous "You're Going to Hollywood!" from Idol judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Tao, 24, currently lives in Los Angeles, where he is a sign language teacher - he taught Idol host Ryan Secrest the sign for "congratulations" on last week's episode. He is also, of course, an aspiring singer. Viewers of Fox's American Idol saw Nate Tao, a 24-year-old singer from Reston, get the golden ticket to Hollywood on Thursday night. Tao told the judges an interesting backstory - both of his parents are deaf. Tao, who attended Herndon High School and is a 2010 graduate of Ithaca College, auditioned for the show in Oklahoma City last summer. He is now based in Los Angeles. Reston Patch will be following Tao's progress as he moves on to Hollywood week on Idol next week, and hopefully we will be in touch with him.
