Water feature is undergoing repairs that may take six weeks.
If you visited Lake Anne Plaza this week, you may have noticed the fountain in front of the Reston Museum is under wraps. Fencing has been placed around the fountain so Fairfax County cane repair the culvert (underground pipes) in the fountain, a Lake Anne spokeswoman said. The repairs may take up to six weeks, she said. Meanwhile, merchants say the plain brown fencing screen around the fountain may be embellished withsome colorful signage.

Three arrested near Lake Anne Plaza.
Fairfax County Police arrested three teenagers when drugs were found in their car at Lake Anne Plaza last weekend. Police said they approached a car in the parking lot about 10 p.m. Saturday. Following an investigation, several charges were made. Tram Hoang, 18, of Vienna, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a schedule II narcotic. Jessica Shin, 18, of McLean, and Kiana Ragland, 18, of Falls Church, were each charged with possession of marijuana. Restonians come out to kick off Robert E. Simon's 100th year.
A large crowd filled Lake Anne Plaza on Saturday to celebrate Reston's 10th annual Founder's Day organized by the Reston Historic Trust. Reston founder Robert E. Simon celebrated his 99th birthday on Wednesday, and Saturday's salute to him kicked off a series of celebrations for his 100th - and Reston's 50th- year. "It is special kind of people who build communities," said Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va. 11th), one of many local dignitaries at Founder's Day. "But almost no other people who can excel at what Simon did. He had a vision, an idea - and the rest is history." Reston founder Robert E. Simon is getting closer to the 100-year mark. Simon turns 99 on Wednesday, and he shows few signs of slowing down. This week, Simon will be at the 22nd annual Best of Reston gala, where he is the honorary chairman. Simon will also helm the event next year - and has set a goal of raising $1 million over the two years for Reston Interfaith. Simon, who was born on April 10, 1914, will also be feted at the annual Founder's Day on Lake Anne Plaza at noon on Saturday. The nonagenarian lives in Heron House at Lake Anne with his wife, Cheryl. Hudgins says she hopes to move forward in redevelopment process this spring.
Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins says she hopes to have narrowed down the list of proposals for Lake Anne-area revitalization within the next 60 days. Hudgins told the Reston Association Board of Directors at a planning session this week that there is not an ultimate solution for redevelopment yet. "Hopefully, in the next 60 days, we will be able to move forward," Hudgins said. "The good news is we have some good opportunities." It has been over a year since Fairfax County released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Crescent Apartments near Lake Anne. New pedicab company is based at Lake Anne Plaza.
There is a new method of transportation for Restonians - a pedicab is now running at Lake Anne Plaza. A pedicab is an environmentally friendly bicycle-powered rickshaw. They are popular in cities and in tourist areas, such as a beach boardwalk. Reston resident Paul Walsh recently opened up his new business - Ella's pedicab - and is offering rides in and around Lake Anne. Ella stands for "Enjoying Life at Lake Anne." "I have wanted one here for years," says Walsh, 53. "Now that the Metro is coming in, there might be potential for this form oif transportation."
