Football: Rebels Top Seahawks, 31-15

South Lakes travels to Fairfax for Liberty District loss.

Fairfax High School handed the South Lakes High School its second straight loss when the Rebels topped the Seahawks 31-15 at Fairfax on Friday. Fairfax (3-1, 2-0 Liberty District), boosted by Nick Scott's two rushing touchdowns, carried a 31-0 lead into the fouth quarter. Scott's second touchdown was a 92-yard run. Scott, a junior running back, led all rushers with 246 total yards. Fairfax kicker Zach Intermill missed on three out of four of his extra point attempts. South Lakes (1-3, 0-2 Liberty) got on the board in the fourth quarter, when Zac Parker scored on an 85-yard pass from quarterback Rashaan Jones. Football: South Lakes at Fairfax Friday

The South Lakes Seahawks will travel to Fairfax High School Friday to take on the Rebels. Game time is 7:30 p.m. South Lakes (1-2, 0-1 Liberty District) is coming off a 49-6 drubbing by Stone Bridge at home last Friday. Fairfax is 2-1, 1-0 Liberty. The Rebels shut out McLean 23-0 last Friday on the road. In the 2011 meeting between Fairfax and South Lakes, Fairfax scored 21 unanswered second-half points en route to a 35-7 victory. That game was supposed to be played at South Lakes but was moved to Fairfax's turf field because of weather.

Saving Monty

Sweet Monty was saved by a local teen from life on the streets and is looking for his new family

Monty is the true definition of a love bug. He’s a sweet, affectionate and playful pit-mix who just wants to be loved and be part of a family. He’s a handsome boy who’s only a year old and weighs in at about 60 pounds. His body is still playing catch-up with his big, blocky head, and he has a big, warm bully smile that lights up when he sees you.  Monty’s story is one that demonstrates the best and worst in people. He was found running free in an abandoned parking lot near a major highway by Lauren Bradford, a Good Samaritan and local senior at Fairfax High School.
