Thank you for the coverage of the South Lakes Girl's Varsity program. This is a coaching staff andRead More team of great individuals working together at SLHS!

The SLHS varsity girls chemistry on the hardwood is unmatched by any team they have played thus far.Read More But let's not forget to Mention that the JV girls, coached by Mr. Braxton, are also undefeated at 5-0. Looks like SLHS girls have a recipe of their own. Way to go Seahawks!!

I am disappointed in the lack of coverage for the girl's program; not providing the school, theRead More athletes, the coaching staff and the fans the due respect. The Herndon boys varsity team defeated South Lakes. However the South Lakes girl's varsity team defeated Herndon 71-27. This should have been a joint article highlighting the basketball programs for the boys and girls. Set an example for the upcoming journalist of uncensored, accurate and fair reporting.

Hi Tamara, I'd be glad to cover the girls team as well, it just seems to be much harder to find asRead More much information sent to me about them. Especially since they are highly ranked, they are more than deserving of coverage. I've found good recaps on the South Lakes Athletics site (which are posted regularly, unlike the mens), but have yet to find out how to get permission to run that information. Also, photos would be a great help, and are also difficult to find for both teams, but especially the girls. . If you would like to send information, photos, etc., or know someone who would, please do. I can be reached at alex.mcveigh@patch.com. I'd also be happy to reach out to anyone you think can get me the information. Thanks for the comment!

Like Reston Association the Patch never seems to realize that many Reston kids attend Herndon HighRead More School. I have been to many Reston Association board meetings where the board recognizes South Lakes High School, but no mention is ever made of Herndon High School. Yet Aldrin Elementary and Armstrong Elementary are part of the Herndon pyramid and both schools are located in Reston and the kids who attend them live in Reston. The situation is so extreme that RA actually excludes school teams made up of kids who attend HMS and HHS from using RA facilities. The argument they used is that not all of the kids live in Reston. In North Reston we often feel like the unwanted stepchild. We're not considered part of Reston, except when they want something from us -- like to build on our parkland.
