This Weekend: Jingle At Lake Anne, Alternative Gift Fair, Gifts from the HeART and More

Whether its a visit from Santa at Lake Anne, or opportunities to shop for gifts and help nonprofits, it's happening in Reston this weekend.

Holiday activities abound in Reston this weekend, from performances at Lake Anne and Reston Town Center, as well as shopping opportunities to benefit nonprofits. 

Let Hope Fly 13th Annual Alternative Gift Market, Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church in Reston, 1625 Wiehle Avenue. Visit over 30 booths of crafts and alternative gifts from local and international charitable organizations that help those most in need. Gifts from the HeART, Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Reston Community Center Lake Anne. This event takes place in conjunction with the 15th AnnualGifts from the HeART Exhibition, which showcases original works of art in a variety of media, in a wide range of sizes and prices. Proceeds will help Cornerstones (Formerly Reston Interfaith) to continue the important work of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Laurel Learning Center and their Community Services Outreach, which includes job counseling, emergency food, and youth programs. Since the annual exhibit was first held in 1999, Gifts from the HeART has raised approximately $6,000 for Cornerstones.

Jingle At Lake Anne, Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Lake Anne Plaza.   Community organizers and plaza retailers will host a variety of festive activities ranging from the ever popular special visit from Santa (arriving on a lake barge at noon), strolling carolers, a petting zoo, music, wine tastings, merchant specials, children’s crafts, cookie decorating, holiday arts & crafts market, holiday entertainment and much more. The holiday event is hosted by Lake Anne Merchants.

Washington Plaza Baptist Church Annual Christmas Concert, Saturday, Dec. 7, 4 p.m., 1615 Washington Plaza.  The Washington Plaza Baptist Church Choir will present its annual Christmas music concert, joined by guest artists. While the concert is free you may wish to bring a non-perishable food item as a contribution to those in the community who are in need. This event will be followed by a reception where you can meet the singers and musicians and other concertgoers.

The Reston Chorale presents "The Wonder of the Season" Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Reston Community Center Hunters Woods. Experience the joyous sounds of the season, featuring Reston's 90-voice chorus performing Bach's "Magnificat." The program will also feature holiday favorites performed with JuBellation Ringers and a special appearance by Santa. Tickets: $25 Adults; $20 Seniors. Children and youth (17 and under) will be admitted FREE with a ticketed adult or senior, but tickets are required.
