Homecoming Parade, Musical Theatre and Halloween Fun

South Lakes HS Homecoming - show your school spirit this weekend by turning out for the parade and football game Friday night. Parade starts at 5 p.m. at Hunters Woods Village Center, then marches down Colts Neck to South Lakes Drive and finishes at the school. (Insider tip: they throw candy from the floats; get your kids ready to catch it!)

Kickoff is 7:30 p.m., and the Seahawks have a winning record as they prepare to host Langley. More details on that here.

Saturday night is the big homecoming dance - tag Reston Patch in some Facebook posts and we will create a gallery.

Home Tour Saturday - The 12th annual Reston Home Tour starts Saturday at 10 a.m. The self-guided tour takes you inside five special Reston homes. Tickets are $30.  More info here.

Last Call at Lakeside Inn - Surely you have heard by now the venerable Reston watering hole closes Sunday. Want to say goodbye to your favorite bartender or plate of chicken wings? Now is your chance.


Show tunes! The Reston Community Players opened its 2013-14 season with "A Tribute to Rogers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber" last weekend. The show, which features numbers from some of the great shows like South Pacific, Oklahoma! Carousel, Cats and Evita will continue weekends through Oct. 27, with shows this weekend Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. Click here for ticket info.

Spooky Parks - Fairfax County Parks Authority is hosting several Halloween events, including a weekend full of activities at Frying Pan Farm Park. There will be standard farm harvesting events, including milking cows and goats and watching the cider press. There will also be a fall carnival with games, rides and fair food. Costs and times vary depending on activities. Through Sunday. 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon. Also at Fairfax Parks on Saturday: Preschool Pumpkins in the Park at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston and Fear-less Fest at Hidden Oaks Nature Center.
