Football, Huge Yard Sale and Family Fun Festival

What's happening in and near Reston the weekend of Sept. 6-8.

 
1.
It's high school football season! Season openers Friday: South Lakes hosts Westfield and Herndon hosts Mt. Vernon. Game times are 7:30 p.m.

2. Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe is scheduled to stop by the Plum Family Picnic and Pre-Election Rally on Saturday. There will be music and food in support of Del. Ken Plum's re-election campaign. 3 p.m. at North Hill picnic pavilion.

3. The Reston Triathlon starts at 7 a.m. Sunday. If you are in it, good luck. If you are going to cheer on your favorite triathlete, click here to get more race details.

4. The Herndon Family Fun Festival and Classic Car Show is Sunday at the Herndon Train Depot.  There will be fun for all ages beginning at 11 a.m.

5. Love yard sales? Then come to this big one. Reston Association will hold its semi-annual 95-family yard sale in the parking lots of its headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive. Shopping starts at 8 a.m. Saturday. Details here.
