Women's Club of Greater Reston General Meeting
, Thursday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m., Reston Community Center Lake Anne, 1609-A Washington Plaza. Following the general meeting will be a new program: Jessi Toye, a board certified Life Coach and Food for Life Instructor for the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Toye teaches nutrition classes at the Reston YMCA and gave live demonstrations at last summer's Herndon Farmer's Market. She will not only talk about nutrition but will also do a live cooking demonstration. Her goal to is to teach people to learn some new skills to lead a healthier life.

There is no admission fee and refreshments are served before the general meeting. It is free and open to the public, no need to be a Reston resident. Refreshments provided. 

Artist's reception for "America's Parks," Friday, Jan. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of Reston Center Two, 12005 Sunrise Valley Dr. Take off winter's chill and meet Alfonso Ong at a reception and showing of his plein-air paintings of "America's Parks." The event is free. The exhibit will be open through Jan. 31, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Environmental Film: "Chasing Ice," Friday, Jan. 17, 7 to 10 p.m., Walker Nature Education Center, 11450 Glade Drive. Winner of the 2012 Sundance Award for Excellence in Cinematography, "Chasing Ice" is the story of James Balog’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of climate change.

Using time-lapse cameras, his videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. We will have a short discussion after the screening. Co-sponsored by Sustainable Reston and Friends of Reston.

Affordable Care Act/Obamacare Workshop, Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m. to noon, Heritage Fellowship Church, 2501 Fox Mill Road, Reston.
