Walk to School Day, Talk About Library Changes and Climb Aboard a Fire Truck

Here is what is happening in Reston for the week of Oct. 7, 2013.

Concerned about potential  changes for Fairfax County Public Libraries?

While the library system has put on hold a beta plan that would have affected libraries throughout the system - including Reston Regional - the topic is still open for discussion.

Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins will host her "First Monday" meeting at Patrick Henry Library in Vienna on Monday at 1 p.m. All Hunter Mill residents are welcome to attend and give feedback on the future of the libraries.
Patrick Henry is located at 101 Maple Ave. E in Vienna.
The League of Women Voters is also hosting an event to discuss potential library changes on Wednesday at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, Reston Community Center Lake Anne.

Take a ride - Wednesday, Oct. 9 is Walk and Bike to School Day.

For the third consecutive year, students in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will join together to participate in International Walk to School Day. The day is celebrated as a way to promote physical activity while reducing traffic congestion and pollution near schools. Last year, 40 Fairfax County schools participated in the event.

All Reston elementary schools are participating, so check with your individual school to see what special events are planned.

Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins will be on hand at Hunters Woods Elementary to greet walkers and riders.
