Back To School Nights, Reston Multicultural Festival and Big Book Sale

Things to know in Reston for the week of Sept. 23.

School is fully back in session, so it's time for your Reston high school Back-to-School Nights this week.

Herndon High holds back to school night on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. From 5:30-6:30 pm in the Gym, parents will have the opportunity to sign up for Parent View, register their student for the PSAT, buy Herndon spirit gear.

South Lakes High School holds it Back to School Night Thursday. The event begins with a meet-and-greet with counselors at 6 p.m., and Back to School Night events start at 6:45 p.m.

 2. Celebrate the many cultures of the world represented right here in Reston at the annual Reston Multicultural Festival. The event is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lake Anne Plaza. First up: a naturalization ceremony for new American citizens. Then enjoy music, dance and other performances at two stages. Free. More details here.

3. Let's Ride - Members of Reston Association's Board of Directors will lead a bike ride around Reston on Saturday. Meet at Lake Newport Tennis at 9 a.m. More details here.

4. Books! Friends of Reston Regional Library is holding its semi-annual book sale beginning Thursday. This is a great chance to pick up books for a low cost and help out your local library. Sale runs through the weekend. Click here for more details.

5. Want to vote absentee? Saturday absentee voting begins in Reston at the North County Human Services Building  on Sept. 28.  Click here for hours and more details.
