Local Youth Volunteers Recognized by Kohl's

Two Reston students among award winners.

Seven Fairfax County youth are among the more than 2,200 nationwide recognized by ’ through their Kohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program.

"The young volunteers have made a positive impact in their communities through volunteerism," said the company, in a press release. The Fairfax County winners include:

  • Lydia Eng, age 12, Burke
  • Gabrielle Levy, age 9, Centreville
  • Hannah McHale, age 12, Fairfax
  • Abigail Piper, age 10, Great Falls
  • Karishma Popli, age 17, Great Falls
  • Robby Cordts, age 12, Reston
  • Kate York, age 14, Reston

The winners each receive a $50 gift card and a recognition certificate from Kohl’s to honor their community service efforts. They also qualify for the chance to receive a $1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education, which Kohl’s will award later this month.

In total this year, Kohl’s will recognize more than 2,200 young volunteers with more than $420,000 in scholarships and prizes.
