LINK Seeking Volunteers to Pick up Food from Trader Joe's

LINK, a Christian all volunteer organization, is seeking volunteers to help pick up food from Trader Joe’s grocery store in Reston (11958 Killingsworth Ave. Reston, VA 20194). Each Friday and Saturday night, Trader Joe’s bags up food that is being donated to LINK, a local food pantry that delivers emergency food to families who need assistance in Herndon, Sterling and Ashburn. The food is ready at 9 pm and volunteers are needed to transport it from Trader Joe’s to the LINK pantry, located in Herndon. The volunteer(s) would need to move the items that need refrigeration into the refrigerators/freezers and can leave the other items for volunteers to sort the following morning.

The food that is donated from Trader Joe’s provides items that are not typically donated by individuals. We receive fresh produce, salads, meat, and other items and we are able to share this with our clients who would not otherwise receive items like this.

This is a great opportunity for a student who would like to give back to their community or individuals interested in finding a way to serve during evening hours. The time commitment varies depending on how much food is available, but is typically one to one and a half hours each Friday or Saturday night.
