The journey to Warner Robins, GA, has been amazing - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 13 boys who are the Reston National Little League team.

Spring season baseball play is over in June for many Reston kids, when summer camps and vacations begin. But for Reston National, most camps and vacations have been on hold.

At the closing of the season, boys selected as all-stars begin to prep for a District tournament. After Reston National won the District 4 Championship, calendars were juggled so they could make the many practices and play in the Virginia state tournament. When Reston National won the state tournament, juggling started again so they could get ready for and play in the Southeast Regional Tournament in Georgia that begins this Friday.

And juggling continues with team parents and volunteer coaches (who are also Reston National parents) rearranging their work schedules. I'm fortunate that my boss is a sports junkie. A big thank you to all the Reston National parent employers who have been unbelievably supportive of this 2011 Reston National journey. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.

Today we head to Georgia. Although there is great sacrifice to a Summer on Hold, as Kirsten Kidd, another Reston National mom, recently said: “…a trip to Warner Robins … priceless.”

Go Reston National!
