The J and J Project -- a wardrobe stylist and her client on a quest to answer the question, "What do I wear?"

"What Do I Wear?"
For years, I've been reading books and saving magazine articles about ways to put together attractive outfits from a few basic clothing items. I wish I could say that the outcome of that effort has been successful. To the contrary, I found the information available out there to be quite limited and the examples provided severely lacking in “how to” detail.

I just want someone to tell me what to wear! As a marathon runner, I'm used to waking up every day and looking at my training schedule. That way I know how far to run and how fast. And when I cook, I simply follow the ingredient list. Can getting dressed be that much more complicated? But somehow it is.

I've enlisted wardrobe consultants and color consultants, and I've dog-eared book after book after book. But guess what? I never dress any better or quicker or using only a few pieces of clothing.

One day sitting next to me at the hair salon, there she was. Gorgeous, stylish Jessica. And it all came together. I had just taken a new job as an executive at an Internet company. And I wanted to look professional yet hip, fun but age appropriate. I called Jessica to help me put together a few outfits and quickly realized she is brilliant and very, very good at what she does. When I told Jessica my story and shared my fashion frustrations with her, we decided to team up. She would help me figure out what to wear, and I would share what I'm learning from her and spread the word in hopes of helping others.

Here on our blog we will provide simple guidelines for wardrobe basics that are affordable and practical. And each season we'll suggest a few key updates to those basics that will keep you looking trendy and in style. We'll support our recommendations with photographs of how outfits really look on humans -- and provide instruction on what goes with what. And we'll invite you to send your fashion dilemmas to us so we can share the solutions with everyone.

So here we are ready to take the first step on our fashion journey -- Jessica and Jill and all of you -- Stylish Us!
