How do you define “Lifelong Leisure”?

After a successful "Getting Around Reston" Transportation Forum, Reston for a Lifetime now turns its focus on planning for the Lifelong Leisure and Resource Expo and welcoming "Founding Members."

If you ask 10 people to define how they like to spend their “leisure” time you will probably get ten different answers.  While many might define “leisure” as spending time in a hammock reading a good book, there are plenty of others who “relax” by working in their yard, rigorous fitness activities, helping others, or cooking. 

This year, Reston for a Lifetime is one of the partners producing the with the and In addition to health screenings, this year’s event will feature short workshops to learn more about technology, home modifications, accessible design, nutrition and cooking, leisure and recreation activities, transitioning into retirement, career options, financial and estate planning, and much more.

Our next Reston for a Lifetime monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 12 at RCC-HW from 2 to 4 p.m. We will review the different workshops and ideas we would like to present at this event. We are eager to get feedback from everyone on ideas, speakers, topics you would like to see presented.  Even if you can't make it to the meeting feel free to email aginginreston@gmail.com with your thoughts or make a comment on this blog post.

Getting Around Reston Forum was a huge success

The Getting Around Reston Transportation Forum on March 31 had well over 100 attendees who enjoyed meeting each other and learning about alternative transportation resources at the forum.

The event was opened by Hunter Mill Supervisor, , who shared her perspective and insights on transportation in the region. Supervisor Hudgins was followed by two panel presentations and an opportunity for attendees to visit well over a dozen resources on display at RCC and in the parking lot.
