Could Green Transportation Help Reston?

An innovative company will talk about their unique energy efficient electric vehicles and a community based program that might be suited for Reston.

Transportation and "getting around" Reston has been an important topic since the inception of Reston for a Lifetime. At our November meeting, we talked about raising funds to support an alternative transportation system that might better serve those that might not be served by existing transportation systems. Two volunteers, Janet Watkins and Bonnie Whyte learned about an interesting Annapolis based company called eCruisers.

eCruisers has the largest single fleet of GEM e6, 100 percent Electric Cars anywhere, they provide a street legal, safe, "fun, hip & cool" way to get to your destination that is Eco-friendly and produces Zero Emissions.  They currently have partnerships in communities throughout the country to supplement existing transportation services.  Read an article about eCruisers

A brief chat with founder Russell Rankin made us see that a partnership in our community might be a creative solution to many of the challenges we have discussed at Reston for a Lifetime meetings.

We invite you to our first meeting of the year  on Wed. Jan 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. at RCC Hunters Woods. Russell Rankin of eCruisers will be our special guest and he is bringing a vehicle. Come ready to learn about this concept and ready to ask questions!

All of our meetings have an time devoted to an "open agenda," where we discuss projects, challenges and solutions.  Our primary topics revolve around neighborhood connectedness, transportation, affordability, accessibility, inter-generational programs, and much more.
