Two South Lakes High School senior athletes signed NCAA Division I letters of intent on National Signing Day on Wednesday.
Zac Parker, who scored eight receiving touchdowns for South Lakes in his senior season last fall, signed to play at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Parker led the Seahawks' offense with 710 receiving yards.
"Zac took a challenge we put in front of him," South Lakes assistant football coach Marcus McLean said at a signing ceremony at the school. "You can see the proof of where hard work will get you."
Parker, a first-team all-Liberty District selection in 2012, had also been heavily recruited by Bowling Green State University and Gardner-Webb University, SLHS coaches said.
Also signing Wednesday was Suliaman Dainkeh, who had orally committed to play soccer at the University of Maryland more than a year ago. Read about Dainkeh's journey from Sierra Leone to Reston here.
Dainkeh, a defender, also plays with D.C. United's Under-18 developmental team and 2012 U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team training camp and took part in the 2012 U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team training camp.
"I can't wait for next year," Dainkeh said. "I am really looking forward to the next stage of my life."
