South Lakes Track Teams Win Liberty District

Individual honors for many Seahawks.

The South Lakes Boys and Girls Track teams both were crowned Liberty District champs after day one of the district meet.

The district meet continues today at Thomas Jefferson, but both teams had enough points  (girls 122.5 points;  boys' 138 points) to win the title.
 
District Champions on Thursday included Kyannah Calhoun in the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run; the girls 4 x 100 relay of Kristin Tran, Naimah Coleman, Aya Abdelhalim, and Danielle Hale; the girls 4 x 400 relay of Grace Gillen, Kristin Tran, Emily Lopynski, and Haley Vaughn; Sean Price in the triple jump and the 200 meter dash; and Armando Drain in the 300 meter hurdles.  Price and Drain set new district records.

All district honors were also earned by Aya Abdelhalim (300 hurdles), Haley Vaughn (400 meters), Grace Gillen (400 meters), Danielle Hale (200 meters), Naimah Coleman (200 meters), Ian Angara (300 hurdles), Jacob Grundahl (800 meters), Austin Leggett (800 meters), Connor Metcalf (200 meters), Nick Guarnaccia (3200 meters), Rashaan Jones (triple jump), Ken Robair (discus throw), and the 4 x 400 meter relay of Ian Angara, Jacob Grundahl, Brian Brinson, and Armando Drain.

The meet concludes Friday with the 4 x 800 meter relay at 5 pm at TJ.
