SLHS Girls Beat Langley in Tourney Opener

Seahawks beat Langley in Liberty District tourney quarters to advance to semis against Marshall.

South Lakes High School's girls basketball team topped Langley 55-42 in the opening round of the Liberty District tournament at South Lakes on Tuesday.

The Seahawks (15-7, 10-5 Liberty) were ahead by three at the half, but outscored the Saxons 24-12 in the third quarter to pull ahead.

The Seahawks were led by sophomore center Abigail Rendle's 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and eight blocked shots.

Forward May Severin added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Caitlin Jensen scored three three-pointers. 

South Lakes advances to the Wednesday's semifinals, where it will play Marshall. The game is at 7:30 p.m. at South Lakes. Madison will play Fairfax in the other district semifinal at 5:45 p.m.
