Sennett Leads South Lakes Into Swimming Regionals

Four individuals and two relays continue season.

South Lakes will send four individual swimmers and two boys relay teams to the Northern Region swim meet this week at Oak Marr Rec Center.

The rest of the team wrapped up its season at the Liberty District meet Saturday at Audrey Moore Rec Center in Annandale.

Junior Emily Sennett  finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and second in the 100-yard butterfly on Saturday.

Based on her times from meets earlier this season, Sennett was already qualified for the regional meets in each event and the state meet in the butterfly.  Her time of 59.14 seconds in the butterfly, however, was just.05 seconds back of Langley’s district champion, Meghan Overend.

“For the 100 fly, I just like to swim it. I would have liked to win the event, but the girl’s a senior, so it’s OK,” she said. “Next year.”

Along with Sennett, the Seahawks’ regional qualifiers are the boys 200-yard medley relay and 400-freestyle relay (each made up of Anthony Barbee, Dane Pilcher, Sean Shada and Harrison Hughes); Barbee in the boys 500-freestyle; Pilcher in the boys 200-individual medley; and Sierra Scoggin in both the girls 100-backstroke and 200-IM.
