South Lakes High School's two new artificial turf fields are nearly ready for action.
Crews were busy installing the stadium field on Thursday. Installation will continue Friday, and the fields should see the first game action in a lacrosse matchup on Monday.
The $1.4 million project came to be through a Fairfax County grant and a partnership with local organizations such as Reston Association, Reston Community Center, Reston Youth (Football) Association, Reston Soccer, South Lakes Athletic Boosters and Band Boosters, among others.
The South Lakes football team will play its first game on the stadium field against Westfield High School on Sept. 6.
