Let's Go To the Videotape

Reston Association provides video program to analyze game.

Are you looking for a customized program to improve your tennis game? The Reston Association has a unique program for you.

RA provides a video program to record footage of your tennis game. This video will show the strengths and weakness of a tennis player in the hopes it will  improve their skills, mechanics, and overall performance.

Players go home with a video featuring commentary and recommendations from tennis coach Jim Elder.

The video analysis program is open to both junior and adult players.  In most cases, adults take advantage of this program in order to see their stroke production and how to improve their tennis game.

Jim Elder, RA tennis pro, says he meets players at the court,  warms up with them for 10 minutes, and then begins filming.

"Depending on his or her skill level, we play a full match," said Elder. "Then I use my Apple computer software to edit and do a voice over with a critique and give the student a final DVD."

There is a $50 fee for video analysis. Is it money well spent?

"People's self image of how they play is not accurate," said Elder.  "It strongly reinforces the verbal instruction given by a tennis teaching professional."

Reston residents and current tennis members in the association can register for the video program by calling (703) 435-6502 or emailing tennis@reston.org.
