Football: South Lakes Pummels Marshall

Seahawks shut out Statesmen, 53-0.

The South Lakes Seahawks ended a three-game losing skid with a 53-0 victory over Marshall at home Friday night.

The shutout was South Lakes' first Liberty District win of the season. The Seahawks are now 3-6  overall and 1-5 in the conference heading into the final game of the season against Thomas Jefferson.

Marshall remains winless at 0-9 (0-6 Liberty).

The game was South Lakes' best offensive output of the season. Quarterback Rashaan Jones ran in four  touchdowns, including a 53-yarder in the first quarter and a 45-yard interception return in the second.

Wide receiver Zac Parker caught two touchdown passes. Akram Gibreel added his second TD of the season when he caught a 50-yard pass from Jones in the third. Antonio Dixon scored the Seahawks' final touchdown.

Reston founder Robert E. Simon was the team's special guest at the game, and the hype squad and cheerleaders wore pink for breast cancer awareness.
