South Lakes senior Eugenia Witherow took first place at the first Liberty District Girls Golf Championship on Wednesday. She shot 41 over nine holes.
As a team, South Lakes finished second in the tournament.

The varsity team began the season 4-1 at the Under The Lights Tournament at Lee High School. South Lakes earned victories over Osbourn (5-0), Lee (5-1), and Falls Church (6-0). The girls lost 2-1 to Centreville in the tournament, which was held Aug. 24-25.
The Seahawks also defeated Falls Church 5-1 on Monday and Yorktown 2-1 on Thursday.

Volleyball
The Seahawks lost 2-1 to Westfield in the season opener.
Cross Country
The Seahawks opened the season Thursday at the PR Kick Off Invitational at Bull Run.
South Lakes' Ashkan Mohammadi finished fifth overall in 10:18. Nick DeAtley finished eighth (10:35).
Junior Abby Reinhold was the top girls finisher (13th) in the junior/senior race for South Lakes (13:26). Augusta Durham finished fourh in the sophomore girls race (13:32).
