Parsons Management Consultants (PMC) will host its annual Golf Partnering Outing on June 8, 2012 with a special focus on raising funds to benefit the ALS Association – DC/MD/VA Chapter.
The Chapter benefitted from the 2011 event after co-worker Mike Hackett was diagnosed with ALS. Mike passed away in February 2012, and this year’s tournament will be held in his memory. The Putting Contest for ALS begins at 12:45pm, with a shotgun start at 2:00 pm, followed by an awards dinner. The tournament will be held at 1757 Golf Club, 45120 Waxpool Road, Dulles, VA, 20166.

ALS is a progressive neuromuscular disease that occurs when motor nerve cells cease to function and die. There are 30,000 people living with ALS in the United States at any one time. Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with the disease and every 90 minutes someone passes away from ALS. In most cases a person’s mind remains sharp and alert; however, voluntary muscle control becomes completely lost, often resulting in total paralysis and the inability to speak. The average life expectancy for someone living with ALS is two to five years after diagnosis. There is currently no known cause, cure, or means of prevention.
