Basketball: SLHS Girls Top Chantilly, 42-40

Seahawks win first game in Northern Region play.

South Lakes High School's girls basketball team overcame a five-point halftime deficit to top Chantily 42-20 in the first round of the VHSL Northern Region Tournament.

South Lakes (21-4) outscored Chantilly 20-13 in the second half. 

Gabrielle Schulz scored the Seahawks' first nine points and was key to the team's defense. She finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot.

Center Abigail Rendle finished with eight points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

The team plays 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon High School in the Regional round of eight.
