SLHS Community Raising Funds to Honor Butler

Landscaping will be part of retiring South Lakes High School principal Bruce Butler's legacy.

When not tending to his administrative duties, principal Bruce Butler is often seen picking up trash, watering flowers, and mulching trees around the grounds of the school.

after 14 years at the school as assistant principal and principal. To honor his legacy of service, the SLHS PTSA is organizing several school landscaping projects.

The PTSA is working on the project with Herndon's Hidden Lane Landscaping and Design. Hidden Lane will donate a portion of its services to the project.

The PTSA will be re-establishing a Landscaping Committee and will develop a short-term and long-term working plan and encourage student, alumni, parent, and community involvement.

“Nothing was too small for Bruce to show how much of a family we are at South Lakes,” says SLHS office staffer Liz Knapp.  “He modeled respect and pride in every aspect of our life at school."

More details on the landscaping projects will be announced at the communtity celebration for Butler on June 28 at Reston Community Center.

Well, who better to quote about ANYthing to do with SLHS than Liz Knapp! And she's right. I've often seen Bruce out with a lawn mower on the weekend, beautifying our school. Mike

This seemed like the natural way to honor Bruce for all that he has given to South Lakes. Anyone who would like to contribute towards the project can do so through the PTSA website at http://southlakesptsa.org/bbdonate.html
