Indoor track teams have strong showing at Robinson Invitational.

South Lakes High School's track and field continued its strong season at the four-team Robinson Invitational last weekend.

Winning their events and qualifying for the Northern Region  hampionships were Ashkan Mohammadi in the 1600 meter run; the girls’ 4x200 relay of Symone Damper, Jordan Lozama, Rodneia Mitchell, and Danielle Hale; and the girls’ 4x400 relay of Grace Gillen, Haley Vaughn, Claire Nieusma and Delaney Wickman.

Winning their events and qualifying for state championships were Michael McHugh in the 1000 meter and the boys’ 4x200 relay of Aeron Thai, Rashaan Jones, Daniel Johnsen and Zac Parker.

Additional winner included the girls 4x800 relay; Devin Nieusma in the 1600 meter; Grace Gillen in the 500; Delaney Wickman in the 300; Aya Abdelhalim in the triple jump; Rashaan Jones in the long jump; Khao Nguyen in the triple; and Daniel Johnsen in the 300 meter.

Girls Basketball - The Seahawks traveled to McLean on Tuesday, where beat the Highlanders 39-29 for their second straight Liberty District road victory.

Senior guard/forward, Mary Severin finished with a game-high 12 points, (6/10 fg), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Junior Guard Caitlin Jensenscored 9 points, and added 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.

Junior guard Sasha Sprei finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, and 1 steal. Junior center Abigail Rendle scored 5 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and added 3 steals, 1 assist, and 2 blocked shots.

 Up next for South Lakes (5-1 overall, 2-0 Liberty District) at home vs. Langley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Boys basketball -   Brandon Kamga scored 22 points, but it was not enough to overcome McLean as the Seahawks lost to the Highlanders 63-56 on Tuesday.

McLean was led by Joe Pascoe (22 points) and Joe Heberton (19 points) to improve to 1-2 overall, 1-0 Liberty. South Lakes (2-3, 1-1) plays at Langley 7:20 p.m. on Friday.
