South Lakes HS Band Second in Class at Band Of America Regionals

Spirit of Reston has best showing ever at competitive showcase.

The South Lakes High School Marching Band had its best-ever finish in the highly competitive Bands of America (BOA) Regionals in Monroeville, Pa., on Saturday.

Terrible weather did not stop The Spirit of Reston from finishing second in Class 4-A, just behind Fairfax High. SLHS placed seventh overall. The preliminaries were held indoors due to rain, but the band performed outdoors in the foggy finals Saturday night.

South Lakes and Fairfax were the only bands representing the Commonwealth of Virginia; the others were from Pennsylvania, Ohio and North Carolina.
