SLHS Spring Sports Wrap Up With Awards

Boosters raised more than $100,000 this school year.

The Seahawk Athletic Boosters awarded a check for $30,000 at Monday night's Spring Sports Banquet.

The boosters' goal for the 2011-12 school year was to raise $100,000. The group surpassed it and raised $115,000. The group makes money through concession sales, spiritwear and other fundraisers.

The boosters also gave retiring principal Bruce Butler the George Felton Award for his commitment to SLHS Sports and Activities. Felton was SLHS' second principal. Butler, a fixture at SLHS athletic events, will be retiring on June 30.

SLHS activities director Linda Jones also awarded Butler a special athletic letter.

"You will always be a Seahawk," she told the principal, who received a standing ovation from the parents, students and supporters.
