SLHS Girls Soccer Starts With Shutout

Girls lacrosse is 2-0 after win over Dominion.

The South Lakes girls soccer team opened it season with a 2-0 victory over T.C. Williams.

Sophomore Elise Andrich, assisted by junior Ellen Gose scored with about 10 minutes left in the first half. 

Gose, assisted by Andrich, scored the second goal for the 2-0 win.

The team's next home game os Monday 7 p.m. at home against Lee High School.

Despite the freezing conditions, the girls lacrosse team defeated Dominion High 9-4 Thursday night at Dominion.

Maria Leith started the scoring drive four minutes into the first half, which she followed with an assist to Kenzie Hughes about halfway through the period.

The real drive for South Lakes started with under 2 1/2 minutes left in the first half when Hughes added three more goals, one on an assist from freshman Christina Woodward, giving the Seahawks a 5-0 lead going into halftime.

Dominion adjusted at the half and scored three quick goals in the second half and were within striking zone before Leith and Woodward started exchanging goals -   each adding two more to their totals for the night. 

South Lakes is now 2-0.

Next for the Seahawks: Tuesday at Yorktown.
