SLHS Girls Ready for State Basketball Play

Seahawks face Stonewall Jackson Friday in VHSL Class AAA Tournament.

South Lakes High School's girls basketball team is preparing for a place it has not been since 1986 - the Class AAA Virginia Basketball Tournament.

The Seahawks advanced to the tournament by finishing second in the Northern Region after a 60-52 loss to Edison in the Regional Final on Saturday.

Friday at 6:45 p.m., they face Manassas Stonewall Jackson (23-3) in a state quarterfinal game at Robinson High School.

The Seahawks are 23-5 and showed their determination by winning four of their postseason games by a margin of three points of fewer.

Patch spoke with some of the team leaders this week (see video attached to this article). The common theme: None of them want the season to end.
