Showcase of Bands Returns to Herndon High Saturday

Sixteen marching bands from throughout Northern Virginia will perform, along with the Pride of Herndon band.

The 17th annual Showcase of Bands returns to Herndon High this weekend - and the Pride of Herndon hopes many from the community will come out and cheer on all of the groups slated to perform this year.

The event runs all day Saturday at Herndon High School.

The showcase features high school marching bands from throughout the region, presenting their field shows, in which the bands march and make formations on the field while playing music. Each band competes with other bands of similar size in different categories.

Judges rate and score each band, and the top bands are recognized with trophies at the awards ceremonies.

The Pride of Herndon will present its 2013 field show by exhibition.
