Reston Student Earns Israel Research Trip

TJ senior Keenan Temin one of 37 students at SciTech, Technion's prestigious summer program.

Keenan Temin of Reston, a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, was recently honored with the Dr. Istvan Madaras SciTech Scholarship, which allowed him to conduct scientific research at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.

Temin was among 37 high school students worldwide to participate in the SciTech program at the Technion — a program for high school juniors and seniors with a demonstrated interest and ability in science and technology.

SciTech, now in its 19th year, gives young students the chance to carry out research (in English) in a broad range of fields alongside Israel’s top scientific researchers. Temin worked in the faculty of Civil Engineering on a project called “Damage Identification Testing,” in which he investigated the optimal placement for sensors when testing a building for damage.
