As part of commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, Reston Historic Trust is conducting a series of tours and lectures about Civil War events that occurred in the Reston area.
The Battle of Dranesville was fought on December 20, 1861.
Presentation includes the strategic significance of Leesburg Turnpike (Rt. 7), history and description of the Town of Dranesville in 1861, movement of troops through present-day Reston, events that led to the clash of soldiers near the Dranesville Church of the Brethren, the leading commanders and what happened to them after the War, and what happened to Dranesville and Reston area during and after the War.
