Deadline April 1 for 10 $1,000 Scholarships for Fairfax County High School Seniors

Celebrate Fairfax is giving out 10 $1,000 scholarships.

Celebrate Fairfax, Inc.(CFI), producer of the award winning Celebrate Fairfax! Festival, has announced that applications are now being accepted for the Celebrate Fairfax Community Spirit Scholarship Program. Created in 2011 as part of its mission to “Celebrate Fairfax County and Its Communities,” 10 $1,000 college scholarships will be awarded to Fairfax County high school seniors during the 2014 Celebrate Fairfax! Festival.

Scholarship recipients will be named from each Fairfax County’s Supervisory District, as well as one at-large recipient from a student living in Fairfax County or Fairfax City. Recipients will be recognized for their community involvement, academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and demonstrated leadership.

Information regarding eligibility and criteria may be found along with the online scholarship application at www.celebratefairfax.com/scholarships. The deadline for application submission is April 1, 2014. Final selection of awardees will be made by the Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. Board of Directors.

Scholarship recipients will be honored at a special Community Spirit Reception at the Celebrate Fairfax! Festival on Saturday, June 7th, with presenters and guests to include community and county leaders, elected officials, members of the Friends of Celebrate Fairfax, and other special guests. In addition, scholarship recipients will be treated to a VIP Experience Package at the 2014 Celebrate Fairfax! Festival.

Funding for the Community Spirit Scholarship Program comes solely from donations made by the Friends of Celebrate Fairfax, a group of supporters consisting of corporations, businesses and individuals who provide funding for this and other Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. initiatives.

“It is through the generous support of our Friends of Celebrate Fairfax that we are able to provide these scholarships and celebrate the many accomplishments and community spirit of our County’s high school seniors,” stated Loren Rufino, Chair of the Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. Board of Directors.
