On Tuesday, August 27 for one day only, Whole Foods at Plaza America will donate 5% of all the days’ purchases to support Helping Hungry Kids (HHK). HHK is a service project of the Giving Circle of HOPE.
HHK has completed its fourth year of providing food packages to area school children who lack adequate food on weekends when school is not in session. Packages contain non-perishable food items sufficient for two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, 2-3 snacks and milk. HHK met its primary goal during the 2012-2013 school year of providing 200-250 weekend food packages every week to a local elementary school where 75% of the (over 800 enrolled) students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
