Will Connolly's Race Be Easier in 2012?

Fundraising hurdles will likely hamper Republican newbies.

Reston voters will be in the 11th Congressional District in the 2012 election, and The Washington Post predicts that Rep. Gerry Connolly (D) will have an easier time than he did in 2010, where he won by fewer than 1,000 votes.

The Post points out that the two Republicans vying to face Connolly in 2012 are first-time candidates struggling to keep up with the incumbent in fundraising.And the new congressional map of Virginia, awaiting federal approval, would make the Fairfax-based district safer for Democrats.

Reston was in Jim Moran's 8th District the last 10 years.
