Virginia Legislative Session Ending With Funding For K-12 Public Education Up in the Air
House and Senate approved vastly different bottom lines.
The Virginia House and Senate, which will adjourn their 2011 General Assembly session Saturday, are far apart on funding K-12 public education.
The Senate has proposed restoring about $100 million for public education.
A conference committee is required to report back by Saturday.

Del.Ken Plum (D-Reston), who voted against the budget, asked legislators to do the math.
“At the state level we are supposed to be funding 55 percent of the cost of educating our children,' said Plum. " Do the math and we’re currently at 44 percent. If we want to talk about funding education for all children, let’s make up that difference.”
