With Easter on the way, you and your family might be thinking about adopting an Easter bunny of your own.

Is a bunny the right pet for your family?

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter released a video today (Tuesday) about adopting a rabbit from the shelter. The shelter is offering half-off discounts, informational workshops about rabbit ownership, information packets to take home and more from now until Saturday.

Stop by the animal shelter; it's located at 4500 W. Ox Road in Fairfax. Hours are Tuesdays through Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I hope people do NOT think this is a good idea. Most "Easter Bunnies" die within their first year, and people do not realize what is involved in ownership (and the smell!!) Kudos to the Animal Shelter in trying to make this an informed choice, but they would be better off discouraging people from thinking of pets as gifts :( They are not "for" a special occasion, they are for a lifetime!
